Why I Started Mulligan Woodworks
Mulligan Woodworks began as a way to ground myself during life’s challenges. It wasn’t about creating a large business. Instead, it was about finding a path that helped me navigate my own mental health struggles through focus, patience, and the tangible rewards of woodworking.
The Therapeutic Side of Woodworking
Working with wood has always had a calming effect on me. The process requires focus—measuring, cutting, sanding, assembling—and in that focus, I find peace. Each piece of furniture I build isn’t just a project; it’s a chance to clear my mind and redirect energy into something meaningful. There’s something incredibly satisfying about taking raw materials and shaping them into something both useful and beautiful.
A Way to Give Back
Mental health struggles can often feel isolating, but woodworking has reminded me that what we create can connect us to others. When I build a custom dining table, I know I’m helping someone bring a story to life in their home. That connection—knowing something I made can be part of someone’s daily life—is deeply rewarding.
The Meaning Behind “Mulligan”
The name “Mulligan” reflects the idea of second chances, both for the wood I use and for myself. Just as I can sand down imperfections or rework a joint that didn’t quite fit, life offers opportunities to start again. Mulligan Woodworks is my way of embracing that philosophy, one project at a time.
Starting this business has been a way to create something I’m proud of, but more importantly, it’s a way to keep myself steady and focused. My hope is that every piece I create carries a bit of that intention with it—a reminder that beauty and strength can come from the challenges we face.
